The Role
At Ekco, an Alignment Engineer plays a proactive role in IT service delivery, focusing on aligning client environments with best practices and security standards rather than reacting to issues. The role is central to Ekco’s alignment-based IT service model, which aims to reduce risk and improve compliance through structured assessments and technical insight.
Responsibilities:
Technology Alignment Reviews: Regularly assess client environments against defined standards and best practices.
Risk Identification & Remediation: Spot technical risks and misalignments, recommend fixes, improvements and oversee remediation.
Proactive Service Delivery: Work with service desk and delivery teams to minimise reactive tickets by addressing root causes.
Strategic Input: Collaborate with vCIOs and account managers to feed alignment insights into client roadmaps and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
Documentation & Reporting: Produce clear, actionable reports detailing risks and recommendations.
Client Relationship: Act as a trusted technical advisor, building strong relationships through regular onsite and remote reviews.
Key Requirements
3–5+ years of experience in a proactive IT or technical consulting role.
3rd level IT-related degree (preferred).
Relevant certifications (desirable): Microsoft Azure, Office 365, A+, Network+.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Windows Server.
Administration skills in Office 365, Azure, Active Directory, and Microsoft Office.
Hands-on experience with Windows and macOS, including configuration and troubleshooting.
Experience configuring mobile devices, especially for email and multi-factor authentication (MFA) setup.
Familiarity with Windows Server operating systems and virtualisation technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware).
Understanding of intermediate to advanced networking principles.
Understanding of intermediate to advanced Information Security principles.
Working knowledge of networking hardware such as switches, wireless access points, firewalls, and routers.
Experience supporting common peripheral hardware used in business environments (e.g., docks, mice, keyboards, monitors).
Familiarity with the ITIL framework and KPI-driven service environments.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support clients remotely and onsite.
